“I have been with these vets for many years now, nothing is a problem, they all do actually care. Have helped me with rescues that I have fostered, I would not trust my fur babies with anyone else. When I lost two of my most loved babies, they were caring, understanding and went the extra mile for me. Keep up the great work.”
“If it wasn’t for the superb care our little Labrador received from ALL of the vets, nurses and all other staff at the practice he would not be here today, a massive thank you to all.”
“I have been with this practice since 1988 and nothing is too much trouble for them I would highly recommend them to anyone especially now they have to deal with my very lively Setters.”
“Great vets and fantastic reception staff … can highly recommend”
“We bought Jack in August 2012 when he was 7 weeks old. We had always promised ourselves a dog when at least one of us could be at home full time with him.
We wanted to do the right thing and like everybody we wanted the perfect dog – one that was obedient, loyal, intelligent, good on the lead, comes to us when we call him, good with strangers, cars, bikes, etc. We also wanted to buy the right things for him including the food he ate.
We took him to puppy training classes and made sure he had plenty of chew toys, had him groomed when needed, ensured good socialisation and walked him every day. However, at around the age of 5 months we started to see a change in Jack. He started to show some signs of aggression, such as attacking feet and being protective of food.
We tried various techniques that we had read about and took advice on how to prevent him doing this, but the problem didn’t go away and in fact started to get worse to the point that he couldn’t be groomed and you couldn’t walk past him if he was playing with a toy or eating food. We were constantly wary of his presence. He didn’t like visitors, cars, bikes and joggers, etc and we had to choose quiet times of the day when we could take him for a walk. We read just about every book available and took all sorts of advice to no avail; and we thought we would have to muzzle Jack for much of the time. Our last ray of hope was when we discovered Amichien bonding; and when Jack was about 14/15 months of age we contacted Liz at Stokesley vets.
We explained the problems to Liz over the phone and she immediately understood the situation. Liz arranged to come to our home to meet Jack and see the home environment. She came to visit us one Saturday morning in September and spent four hours in our home with my wife and I and Jack. From the moment that Liz walked in the front door there was a noticeable change in Jack.
He was quieter, didn’t growl or bark and seemed to watch Liz with some curiosity. We sat down with a cup of tea whilst Liz explained to us the full fundamentals of Amichien bonding, which to our surprise isn’t complicated or difficult to understand. Liz explained that some very simple, but subtle changes in our interactions and daily routine with Jack would help to stop his confusion about his place in our pack.
Throughout the assessment period, Liz was amazingly understanding and patient whilst she went through everything and explained the techniques that would be relevant to us. She took care to ensure that we had her telephone numbers so that we could contact her at any time for help. It is obvious that Liz is passionate about helping dogs and their owners.
Liz left us with a list of the main points of Amichien bonding and a plan of action. We have to say that we were absolutely amazed by the changes we started to see in Jack within 48 hours. Three months later and Jack has become a much more calm, relaxed and happy dog. He’s not aggressive or protective of toys, food or particular areas. Walks are much improved and his recall is better. Grooming has improved also. We can’t thank Liz enough for the help she gave us and if you are at your wits end with behavioural issues like we had with Jack then we would highly recommend that you contact Liz.”
